Originally, I meant to write reviews of both the Old and New Testament Brick Bibles at the same time, but I had to return the Old Testament to the library because someone else needed a religious LEGO fix I have extremely vivid memories of that book, but I d like to have it in hand while writing my review Hence, I give you my impressions of The Brick Bible The New Testament You have to wait for LEGO smiting of the Israelites until I can get my hands on the OT again. Before reviewing this Bible ver [...]
Mondo bizarro Think comic book square scenes of the New Testament recreated using Legos That s right vignettes from the life of Christ, even the Crucifixion, masterfully done with Legos yes, sometimes slightly altered Did I mention they are made of Legos I also have the author s Lego presidential assassinations tome that I picked up at Half Price Books Legos and Presidential Assassinations, two of my fixations together at last The Book of Revelations section was Spolier Alert, a super downer and [...]
Full disclosure I m an atheist. The Brick Bible is the holy book of the Christian religion illustrated with dioramas of Lego figurines The dioramas are filled with humour and visual gags. There are three parts Gospels is the Christian story of Jesus being a dick, Acts of the Apostles is the Christian story of Jesus disciples being dicks, and Revelation of John is an apocalyptic drug trip.Christianity shares the foibles of other religions Are you amused by the Mormon thing where Joseph Smith conven [...]
I m never going to read this, but I had to scan it at the bookstore Holy cow, really
You guys This exists The Bible illustrated in Legos It just tickles me that this exists. The execution was a tiny bit disappointing I felt that Mr Smith focused too much on blood and violence and weirdness and, I ll admit, there is a lot of all of that in the Bible He left behind the joy and hope that I feel when I read the Bible.Thumbs down for the binding Our library copy of the book looks basically new, but the pages have completely separated from the binding and dried glue is shedding everywh [...]
While I appreciated the effort that went into making all the illustrations, I was disappointed in the chosen Biblical stories to emphasis seriously we need to have a picture of a do it yourself eunuch Also, there are Biblical errors some of which include the author treating Mathew who is also known as Levi as two separate people, two instances of Jesus casting demons out and putting them into swine when it is one incident reported in three gospels, and also Jesus ascending to heaven only to show [...]
An excellent follow up to The Brick Bible A New Spin on the Old Testament This one includes the Gospels, Acts, and Revelation Most of what I like about this was shared in my Old Testament review, so I won t rehash all of it here I like how Jesus is portrayed by the Star Wars prequel Obi Wan Kenobi minifig, and Satan is portrayed by Severus Snape There were several other recognizable pop culture minifigs playing parts as well.Of course this doesn t include everything in those sections, but enough [...]
My family got this book a while back, but then we threw it away I went back to look at the original website today, wondering if it really was that bad and came away literally shaking with anger This author has taken the teachings of Jesus and dragged them through the mud First off, I will start with a scene that I remember being in this book, the one on turning he other cheek Jesus teaches his disciples that if someone slaps you, you are not to slap back However, the author interprets this as a [...]
Going into the The Brick Bible The New Testament I knew that there would be emphasis on the dramatic, the nonsensical and the contradictory Some of these scenes are accurately bricked from the Bible, others are condensed and arranged to make the dramatic, the nonsensical and the contradictory even so Smith leaves out chapter and verse numbers to allow him to blend together and edit the narrative how he sees fit to suit that purpose The Holy Bible is full of some seriously crazy shit No one cont [...]
This book is good in the beginning The story line seems to follow the actual Bible, but further into it words are misinterpreted and will give children a false sense of what the Bible says For example, my son asked me why magicians could not go to Heaven I told him that I needed to see what he was talking about In The Brick Bible the word magicians replaces sorcerers We have Christian magician friends and my son likes to surprise people with magic tricks so this was obviously disconcerting to hi [...]
Note This is a review of both Testaments of The Brick BibleA Quickie ReviewIt s no secret that Legos are insanely popular They have gone beyond mere building blocks and have inspired a theme park, movies and television shows, and multiple computer and video games, many of which also tie in with other popular franchises, such as Star Wars or DC Comics In these two books, Brendan Powell Smith illustrates stories from God s Word using those popular blocks Though his work here is admirable, he left [...]
THE BRICK BIBILE THE NEW TESTAMENT A NEW SPIN ON THE STORY OF JESUS as told and illustrated by Brendan Powell Smith is a powerful Religious Art The second in The Brick Bible series for Kids, see A New Spin on the Old Testament The author makes use of Lego s to tell the story of Jesus in a unique and entertaining way I read A New Spin on the Old Testament and must say I enjoyed this one so much Please do not misunderstand me, the Old Testament is a little gory in truth Back to this title, I foun [...]
I thought it was a really good book because there was a lot of rules in there about sinning and rules that I will try to follow now that I have read this book I think this book would be good for people that are christian and like adventure and i liked how Jesus is warning us for what will happen to us like Jesus will come down and kill the bad people that are bad and how he showed that he was resurrected and how he died for our sins on the cross god said to the people that you cant enter the the [...]
This concept is really cool illustrating the Bible stories using LEGO bricks The author even lists the Bible passages for each section However, several stories events are repeated because they appear in multiple books of the Bible, and that is frustrating to read for example, the calling of Matthew Levi to become a disciple is mentioned twice, as is casting out the demons into pigs This makes linear reading of this book difficult Perhaps it would have been better to simply follow one of they syn [...]
My son and I read this together He is 7 and absolutely LOVED it It was such a great way to get him interested in the Bible and a fun way to learn The pictures were so awesome and detailed We are such huge Lego fans in this family that this book was just a great addition to our collection Although this might not be for all kids There is definitely a lot of adult content in it but I felt my son was old enough and could understand the situations He had a lot of great questions and it started a grea [...]
I was hoping this would be an entertaining and easy way to learn about the Bible While it was easy to get through, I don t think I retained much of it The information didn t sink in with the Lego pictures The Legos were helpful when some scenes were violent or otherwise graphic because they were comical than gory with Lego people I d recommend this to children looking to learn about the New Testament It s a cool idea.
Well, there s not much I can say about it that I didn t say in my review for The Brick Bible A New Spin on the Old Testament, which you can read here.So I ll just leave it at that.
Weirdest.Book.Ever The life and crucifixion of Jesus done in legos Bizarre doesn t begin to describe this one There is also Lego recreations of various early Christian histories and those are alsowords fail me If I had a shelf called WTF this one would be number one on that shelf.
As a former Catholic and current atheist, I never noticed before that Jesus, for all his preaching about throwing the first stone, is kind of arrogant And a bit of an asshole Probably an unpopular opinion that will get me a lot of flack, but I call it like I see it Also, why were all the disciples named Simon and Peter That s some poor story construction if you ask me.
I read the Brick Bible, the New Testament Even though this is a graphic novel, it is NOT a Graphic novel As the stories of the Bible are all told via Lego TM art, much of the blood, sweat, etc is eliminated, making it better for ages The chapter and verse citations are listed on each page, as well Overall an enjoyable read.
We had this book at our summer camp, and some of the boys took it back to their bunks to read it at night and during rest hour And these are boys who don t read the Bible They came over and asked us about some of the passages It was amazing
This is not to be taken as God breathed scripture, because there is no intent of gospel or glorifying God, but for entertainment of how minifigures can be used.
Not as good or as funny as the Old Testament. This includes one of the gospels, Some of Acts and Revelations.I ll bet making Revelations was fun, though.
De bijbel in legoblokjes Mijn dochter vindt het superspannend Ik vind het visueel fantastisch.
Funny, yet informational. The kids won t even know they are learning Mwa ha ha ha
Aidan and the kids have looked through this numerous times They really like it.
